Desktop Focus & Productivity Application
Valarchi is a desktop productivity application designed to help users stay focused using structured work and break cycles. Instead of acting as a simple timer, the application encourages sustainable productivity through session tracking, progress-based leveling, reminders, and a floating timer that stays accessible while users work.
Modern work is filled with constant distractions. Social media, notifications, and multitasking make it difficult to maintain deep focus for extended periods. Even people who are highly productive often experience mental fatigue after working continuously. Research and techniques like the Pomodoro Method suggest that taking short, intentional breaks helps maintain concentration, reduce burnout, and improve long-term performance. Most existing timer applications feel repetitive and lack motivation to keep users engaged over time.
The goal wasn't simply to build another productivity timer. The challenge was designing an experience that users would genuinely enjoy using every day. The application needed to balance productivity with motivation, while remaining lightweight enough to run as a desktop companion without interrupting a user's workflow. Another challenge was combining desktop functionality, local data persistence, notifications, floating windows, and smooth user interactions into a single application.

"Building Valarchi taught me that successful software is not just about implementing features—it is about understanding user behavior. I learned how small UX decisions, such as adding a leveling system, smooth animations, and a floating timer, can significantly improve user engagement. The project also strengthened my skills in product thinking, desktop application architecture, and designing experiences that encourage long-term user adoption."
